Without anger, how can we know peace?
Without darkness, how can we know light?
Everything is dual, everything has its opposite. They play off each other for deeper understanding. But like and unlike are actually the same, different only in degree.
This is the reason we have chosen to live in a world of illusive duality -- to reconcile those polar extremes and to embrace the All.

I don't understand how we chose the world of duality because we're born into it???

DeleteI cannot give a reasonable answer to your excellent question because the science of metaphysics goes beyond that which can be explained and proven.
From my studies, I understand that in Truth, we are all One. That is our most holy state of being, and free from all duality. So the real question is why did we decide to dream of separating from each other and experience differences?
I can only answer that from the various parables I have read over the years that try to address your very question. Here's an example:
Suppose you love to golf and every time you play, you get a hole in one. So does everyone else. There's no longer any game or challenge. There's no experience of defeat or victory.
That was what we had in Oneness. In duality, we have its opposite -- up, down...in, out...bad, good...etc. There is a great joy when we can see past it all back to the Oneness of Reality while living in this dimension of time, space, and physical body.
Has this helped somewhat or are you more confused??? Continue to question and perhaps it will become clear that our purpose in life is to be healers of the duality, accept people we think are bad, love everything, unconditionally.
Once you open your heart to those ideas, wait and see what transpires in your life.

DeleteI understand being confused over this idea. Actually, only with "imagination" can you even begin to realize it.
We are energy, pure Spirit having a human experience in a physical body.
All that the ego does is not our true reality. The ego is fearful and judges everything.
The Spirit part of our mind loves unconditionally since it knows that we are connected as One.
If you find a copy of A Course in Miracles, these concepts become clearer over time.
