Although quite unaware of its goal, the ego expectations are really attachments we set up for disappointment. Yes -- disappointment.
The ego personality expects other people and situations to perform and/or provide in specific ways and when that doesn't happen...you know the rest...
The Spirit Mind holds expectations for the wish fulfilled. It understands the creative power of right thought, has encouraged the proper steps to be taken and then...will provide in the proper timing. It is faith.
Which of the two is operating in your life?

it seems normal to have expectations of people in your life and they have them of you. Is that always ego?
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteThat's a good and logical question. We do rely on loved ones in many ways and we do expect they will not disappoint us. In harmonious relationships of give and take, the flow in a loving exchange offers that connection.
But sometimes, we become angry that things are not exactly as we wanted them to be. We refuse to see that although someone has done things differently than we expected, the offer is no less loving. We react.
The reactive part of our expectations is of the ego. It is the part we want to guard more carefully because it strikes out at rather than embraces another. This part of our expectations always leaves behind hurt feelings.
