I would try participating in amicable silence. Allow the joy of others at the table to make you laugh, listen, and speak when needed.
When not engaging, feel your loved one who passed joining you, not at the table of course, but in your heart.
By using your Inner Vision, you will "see" that person. You will hear his/her contribution to the holiday. It might be painful, but healing at the same time--to know he/she is around you.
just missing someone who passed away recently. hard to sit at table and not see them
