Just walking
onto the rickety porch and through the massive double front doors was creepy
enough. One’s eyes would instantly be drawn up the sweeping, spiral staircase
off the vestibule, and see door after door leading to bedchambers and
baths. Norman was glad his clients never asked to go
upstairs.
He purposely removed the basement light bulb because
something down there felt as though it had been lying in wait for decades. Whatever it was, he didn’t want it
disturbed—not on his watch. The house frightened away everyone, except
for the undaunted new owner.

To show that Daphne was meant to own that house so the sequence of events could unfold?
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteIf you recall, the movers brought up a mirror from the basement intended for Daphne's bedroom. But once Daphne discovered the Turret, she had it brought to the attic, instead.
The symbolism for basement is subconscious mind.
The symbolism for attic is super conscious mind.
Something in OUR subconscious has been lying in wait for decades.
Daphne's school was to empower her students to "mirror" their subconscious POWER and MANIFEST their Dreams from super conscious mind.
All transformation for the characters took place in the Turret.
And yes, the house was waiting for Daphne, as you said.
The reason is revealed in the unpublished Prequel.
XOXO
